Born and raised in Florence, Italy, Leonardo discovered his love of hair while working at a local salon as a teenager. Like many Florentines before him, he set out for a new life elsewhere and soon thereafter landed at London’s prestigious salon Alan International. After continued travel and education, Leonardo moved to New York in 1994, where he began working at the famed salon Bumble&bumble. Between building a large clientele and educating fellow hairdressers, Leonardo cultivated a tremendously successful editorial career that can still be witnessed in countless ad campaigns, editorials, and runways across the globe. In 2008, Leonardo opened ION STUDIO NYC in SoHo. He joined Sam Brocato Salon in 2020 where he continues to channel his craft and nurture hairdressing’s next generation.
