HELEN CRIACO | FUTURE STYLIST
Originally from Texas and now proudly calling NYC home, Helen Criaco has always found joy in the intersection of creativity and connection. Long before beauty school, she was the kid braiding everyone's hair during the summer - equal parts artist, listener, and unofficial neighborhood stylist. For Helen, hair has never been just about how it looks. It's about community, conversation, and helping people feel like themselves.
Drawn to Sam Brocato Salon's culture of education, artistry, and collaboration, Helen knew she'd found her people the moment she walked through the doors. She thrives in the energy of a busy salon and loves being part of an environment where learning never stops and individuality is celebrated.
Helen's approach behind the chair is thoughtful and intentional. She describes herself as "not too scissor happy," taking the time to truly understand what her guests want and creating looks that feel authentic to them. Her greatest superpower? Making genuine connections with just about anyone.
Outside the salon, Helen is an accomplished artist and published indie comic creator whose work has been sold throughout the United States and Europe. She's had her comics featured in The Comics Journal and once discovered her work on the shelves of a beloved San Francisco comic shop while traveling. When she's not drawing portraits, creating comics, or exploring museums, you'll likely find her reading in the park, riding her bike, hunting down great Thai food, or planning her next adventure.
Her style? Colorful, floral, and unapologetically herself. Whether you're in the salon chair for a fresh perspective, a meaningful conversation, or simply a great haircut, Helen is here to make you feel welcome, seen, and excited about your hair.
